Sarah's Story

Safety Equipment - Mandatory

All runners must carry the following safety equipment with them:

  • Waterproof and windproof jacket with hood 
  • Waterproof and windproof pants 
  • Spare long sleeved thermal top and long johns                     
  • Beanie / hat 
  • Windproof and waterproof gloves  
  • Waterproof map of the area & compass or GPS (Knowledge of how to use them in both day and night conditions). (Recommended map – Spatial Vision - Bogong Alpine Area 1:50,000)      
  • Lighter or waterproof matches                                              
  • Whistle 
  • First Aid kit (including elastic bandage for snake bite)          
  • Space type emergency bag / Bivi bag
  • Personal Location Beacon (provided on registration – 1 per solo runner / team or relay team)
  • Mobile phone ( 1 per solo runner / team or relay team – Telstra provides the best coverage)                                     
  • Torch, spare batteries 
  • Food - for the run and emergency food if lost
