What the Amaroo Day Program does
The program offers a variety of structured groups and activities as well as an open house which provides an opportunity for participants to socialise and relax in a safe place. The program offers both men’s and women’s groups, a young person’s group, music, art, personal development groups and leisure and recreational activities. Most activities are free and a calendar of activities is sent to participants every two months.
What the Day Program aims to do
The Day Program aims to provide a safe and supportive environment and is a place to meet others, form new friendships and develop new skills and interests. The program has a long history of using creative expression as a tool to promote recovery and seeks to provide opportunities for participants to experience and understand themselves differently.
Who can participate in the Amaroo Day Program
The Day Program is for adults 16 – 64 yrs who live within the City of Hobsons Bay and Maribynong and experience mental health issues. The day program also runs a men’s group for those living in the City of Wyndham.
Where
The Day Program is located in residential part of Williamstown and is easily accessible by public transport.
How to access the Day Program
Access to the Day Program is by referral only, including self-referral. All clients referred to the Day Program are given a formal introduction to the program and this usually takes place within a few days of program staff receiving the referral.
