Chiron

A supportive community for young people recovering from mental illness

What Chiron does
Chiron is a voluntary, residential recovery and rehabilitation program for young people.
The staffing Hours are usually as follows:
Monday 9am -5pm
Tuesday 9am - 5pm
Wednesday 9am – 5pm
Thursday 9am – 5pm
Friday 9am -5pm

The Chiron program aims to provide a learning environment, a healing environment, a therapeutic environment, a healthy environment, an effective environment and an inclusive environment.

Who can live at Chiron

Chiron provides supported accommodation for a community of ten young people, 16 – 24 years of age, who live in or have links to the Northern Metropolitan region. Due to the voluntary nature of Chiron, residents are required to make a commitment to participating in the Chiron Program.

Where

Chiron is located in Reservoir, with four cluster style units on site and two units off-site. Residential rehabilitation is available to up to ten young people who may stay in the program for up to 2 years.

What the program aims to do
Chiron offers the residents individual support, group activities, recreational opportunities and a place to belong and feel safe. During their time at Chiron, a resident works closely with a key worker who provides support in identifying goals and working alongside the young person in their journey of recovery and preparing for independent living. The staff at Chiron work to provide the young people with opportunities for positive changes.

How to access the program

Clients access the program by referral. The referral process begins by ringing Chiron and is usually initiated by the client, family, friend, or other supports. Then there is an informal visit to meet staff and talk about the program. Referral forms are completed and then a formal interview date is set.
