Seaford Residential Program

A supportive residential community for young people recovering from mental illness.

What Seaford Program does

The Seaford Program offers a 2 year structured residential recovery program for 10 young people, 18 - 24 who have experienced serious mental health issues. The program provides individual support as well as working to foster a supportive community.

Who can live at the Seaford Program

The residential program provides services to young people, aged 18 – 25, who in addition to mental illness, may also be at risk of homelessness, suicide or other forms of self harm. Services are available to people living in the Shires and Cities of Frankston and Mornington Peninsula. As staff are not available overnight, a level of personal independence and competence in living skills is required. The program is staffed for limited hours on weekends.

Where

The Seaford Program is located in a quiet residential street in Seaford. The main site consists of an office, common room and facilities for 4 residents. Within neighboring streets 3 shared units provide for a further 6 residents. Seaford is close to public transport.

What the program aims to do

The staff at the Seaford program work to provide individuals with opportunities for positive changes. Each resident is allocated a key-worker and they work together to achieve agreed recovery goals. With flexibility, an emphasis is placed on assisting individuals to deal with day to day tasks, preparing for greater independence and encouraging links to community through education and employment. The Seaford Program runs a group program, which consists of recreation, living skills and personal development.

How to access the program

Referrals can be made to the program by a Mental Health Service, by Self-referral, by a family member, friend or worker. As part of the selection process there is an informal visit to the program to provide information and to meet staff and residents. Referral forms are provided if the prospective applicant wishes to continue with the selection process.  Applicants are required to attend an assessment interview before being offered a place at the Seaford Program.
