What Apollo does

Apollo is a recovery focused psychosocial residential program. The service offers an individual and community focused program for young people who have experienced mental illness in its many forms. The program is normally staffed 9am-6pm Mon-Fri. The Apollo program provides a supportive environment for individuals recovering from mental illness who may be at risk of homelessness, suicide, self harm and may also have coexisting alcohol and other drug issues.

Apollo aims to facilitate growth, enhance relationships and assist people to move towards greater independence.

There is also an outreach program which offers home based support for clients living in the wider community and desiring additional support around their drug and alcohol / mental health work.

Who can live at Apollo

Apollo is for young people 16 to 24 who come from suburbs within the Northern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne.

Where

Apollo is situated in a Rosanna, with 3 home units on site, and another unit nearby. Accommodation is available for up to ten young people who can stay in the program for up to two years.

What the program aims to do

Apollo aims to provide a safe, supportive environment in which people are able to continue the process of recovery. They are encouraged to participate and take ownership over decisions relating to the residential community, and identify and work towards their goals, aspirations, hopes and dreams.

With both the residential service and the outreach program, Apollo encourages people to express their uniqueness and individuality. In supporting young people recovering from the effects of mental illness, staff work in a holistic way to assist positive personal outcomes for young people, including linking them into the community through education, employment, and other social networks.

How to access the program

Referrals can be made to the program by self referral, family/friend, or via a health professional. After the referral there is an informal visit to Apollo and a formal interview.
