Guy's Story

Kinkora Women’s Hostel and Wynnstay Men’s Hostel

Kinkora and Wynnstay Hostels provide long-term residential accommodation in a home-like environment for up to 16 women (Kinkora) and up to 16 men (Wynnstay) who have experienced severe mental illness and who are able to live semi-independently.

The client service workers are responsible for the day to day operation of the of the hostels, and they provide the residents with healthy and nutritious meals, purchase food, coordinate cleaning, maintenance and gardening services and are available to residents for ongoing practical support. There are no overnight staff.

A team of support workers (WYNNK Outreach Support) provides outreach support to the residents at both Hostels and work with residents to develop recovery plans to assist them to achieve their goals.  Mind aims is to provide residents with a client centred service that promotes independence and recovery.  Working collaboratively with clinical, medical, community and families are a respected and valued part of our working relationship.

Mind took over the management of the hostels on 1st June 2008 that had previously been managed by Mental Health Auxiliaries of Victoria (MHAV).
