Families & Carers - valued partners of Mind
Family and carers engagement
Mind Australia recognises that families and carers are valued partners in the provision of recovery services to Mind clients. We understand that a carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has accessed, or is currently accessing, mental health services.
Mind has Family and Carer Reference Groups in both South Australia and Victoria. The groups have three main roles:
- acting as an advisory body to Mind Australia on family and carer issues
- ensuring family and carers have the opportunity to influence decision making, planning, development, delivery and evaluation of services at all levels of Mind services
- encouraging a vision shared by families and Mind staff for meeting the needs of the carers.
