The One Door Mental Health Fellowship has celebrated its one-year anniversary at an end-of-year gathering at Parramatta Town Hall in New South Wales.
The One Door Fellowship was established in late 2023 to create a community of action for people living with mental health challenges, and their families, carers and supporters, to amplify their voices, perspectives and experiences.
One Door Fellows are able to participate in One Door advocacy campaigns, gain access to discounted tickets at One Door events (such as the One Door Mental Health Symposium), volunteer at One Door’s community-based events and activities, access fellowship roundtable events, and participate in consultation opportunities to help design and develop One Door mental health support programs.
In 2024, One Door Fellows helped create the Fellowship’s first newsletter and contributed to the design of One Door marketing collateral, flyers and the new and improved sunflower pin – a symbol of hope, understanding and compassion towards mental health.
Speaking at the Fellowship’s one-year anniversary event in December, One Door Executive Director Kathi Boorman said although the Fellowship had achieved much in its first year, the journey was just beginning.
“This Fellowship was born from a vision to empower individuals with lived experience, advocates, and change-makers to come together, share their voices, and drive meaningful change in the mental health landscape and to build a community of shared experiences,” she said.
“As we look ahead we envision a future where the voices of those with lived experience are not only heard but are fundamentally shaping the mental health landscape. It’s imperative that we continue to amplify these voices, ensuring they resonate in every corner of our society. By doing so we pave the way for a more inclusive, empathetic, and equitable world.”
One Door is currently accepting applications to join the Fellowship. To learn more and to apply visit the One Door website or email [email protected].
