After seven impactful years, Kathi Boorman has resigned from One Door Mental Health and Mind Australia.

Kathi joined One Door in February 2019 as its CEO, playing an instrumental role in developing innovative services in New South Wales, facilitating organisational transformation and fostering collaborative work environments. Kathi successfully drew on her background as a social worker to advocate for holistic, person-centred and recovery-focused mental health services across all age groups.

Among Kathi’s many achievements, she led One Door’s expansion of services and support programs, including Head to Health, Bilingual Hospital to Home, Commonwealth Psychosocial Services, NDIS programs, peer support and centre-based services. Connection to community was also integral to Kathi’s legacy, as evidenced by the growth and success of events such as the Wellness Walk, the One Door Mental Health Symposium, Fair Days and countless community stalls and exhibitions.

More recently, she has played a pivotal role in the merger between Mind and One Door. As Executive Director – Group Transformation, her calm, empathetic leadership ensured the merger strengthened trust across our newly unified organisation. Kathi’s commitment to supporting One Door staff through a period of significant change was imperative, and she ensured that every team member felt heard and valued.

Kathi’s leadership, experience and deep understanding of operations have also been an asset into the review of Mind’s Housing with Support program. As Executive Director – Housing Services, Kathi has established the new Housing Services Division bringing together a new team comprising services, occupancy and billing.

“On behalf of everyone at One Door and Mind, we thank Kathi for her outstanding contributions – particularly to communities throughout New South Wales,” Mind Australia CEO Gill Callister said.

“In everything she does, Kathi has always prioritised improving the lives of people with lived experience, as well as their families, carers and supporters. Kathi leaves behind an indelible legacy, and we wish her all the best for the future.”

Denise Cumming will step into the role of Executive Director Operations – New South Wales.
