Mind Australia is pleased to announce it has been awarded the contract to provide psychosocial support at the Parkville Youth Prevention and Recovery Care (YPARC) service in Victoria.
Parkville YPARC is a 20-bed, community-based residential service co-designed with and for young people aged 16-25. The short-term service provides a ‘step up’ from the community, supporting young people to work towards their recovery goals and helping to prevent hospital admission. It also offers a ‘step down’ from hospital, supporting recovery and a safe transition back to the community.
The Parkville YPARC program provides holistic, recovery-oriented support in a safe, compassionate environment. During their stay, young people can access:
- one-on-one support
- peer support from
- daily living skill development
- group and individual educational activities
- social interaction with other young people, and
- social events, including karaoke, games nights and family dinners.
Mind CEO Gill Callister said Mind was delighted to partner with the Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) to deliver the service.
“At Mind, we know the best outcomes are achieved when clinical care and psychosocial support work hand in hand. The YPARC model delivers critical support to young people when they need it most by providing community-based short-term, intensive recovery care,” Ms Callister said.
“We acknowledge the work of Orygen in establishing the Parkville YPARC and supporting so many young people and their families and supporters. We look forward to building on that strong foundation alongside PYMHWS.”

Young people staying at Parkville YPARC have access to their own private bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, as well as shared spaces including a kitchen, art room, visitors’ lounge, laundry, breakout spaces, and communal living and dining areas.
Mind is proud to deliver YPARC and Youth Step Up Step Down (YSUSD) services across Australia, including in Parkville, Heidelberg, Traralgon, Frankston and Bendigo in Victoria, and Caboolture and Logan in Queensland.
