One Door Mental Health is now providing free short term intervention psychological therapy for people experiencing suicidal thoughts or who are recovering from a suicide attempt.

The Clinical Suicide Prevention Service (CSPS) in South West Sydney provides up to 10 hours of free psychological therapy to people who are at low to medium risk of a suicide attempt. Clinical Suicide Prevention Service users are people who:

  • have recently been discharged to a GP or eligible referrer following a suicide attempt and/or emergency department visit
  • have recently visited a GP or eligible referrer after a suicide attempt
  • are experiencing strong suicidal ideation.

Clinical Suicide Prevention Service manager Samantha Gilbey says the service provides vital support for those struggling with suicidal thoughts or who are recovery from a suicide attempt.

“We offer both individual and group support, ensuring that everyone receives the care that best suits their needs. By covering all local government areas in South West Sydney, we're able to deliver accessible and immediate care to our community, helping people during the most vulnerable times of their lives,” Ms Gilbey said.

“One Door Mental Health manages both the Clinical Suicide Prevention Service and You in Mind (YIM) program in South West Sydney, offering a seamless transition to eligible people within the stepped care model.

“This integrated approach allows people to seamlessly transition from CSPS's immediate support to YIM support, with the added benefit of dealing with one administration team.”
