One Door Mental Health and Yarning Crescent have made a shared commitment to work together to build community-focused partnerships that improve access to our services for Aboriginal people.

Yarning Crescent is an Aboriginal-led organisation dedicated to creating lasting positive change for First Nations peoples and communities through holistic support, cultural connection, and systemic advocacy.

“One Door honours the strength, knowledge, and leadership of First Nations peoples, and is committed to contributing to a mental health system that upholds cultural safety, equity, and inclusion. We recognise that walking alongside communities is essential to improving health and wellbeing outcomes and supporting the Closing the Gap priorities,” said Kathi Boorman, Executive Director One Door Mental Health. “Our new partnership with Yarning Crescent is founded on respect, collaboration, and shared purpose, and we are proud to walk together on this journey.”

Josh Kirk, National Aboriginal Engagement Manager at Yarning Crescent, said “Together with One Door, we are creating pathways that honour culture, strengthen community connections, and improve wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. By combining our expertise, we can expand access, build long-term relationships, and deliver greater impact for First Nations communities across Australia.”

One Door and Yarning Crescent have a number of shared objectives including:

  • streamlining referral pathways for First Nations peoples into services
  • creating connections to local Aboriginal organisations and community groups across NSW
  • improving the cultural confidence of One Door’s workforce
  • supporting targeted recruitment of First Nations staff through Yarning Crescent.

“We welcome the rich wisdom and expertise that Yarning Crescent have already brought to our work and we look forward to building on this relationship as we walk alongside our community, together,” Kathi Boorman said.

One Door Mental Health is part of Mind Australia. One Door’s new partnership with Yarning Crescent is a welcome contribution that will complement the goals of Mind Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.
