December- January is the so-called holiday season but it’s not always fun for everyone.
It can mean greater feelings of loneliness and isolation for people who don’t spend it with family or friends, or family conflicts for people who do. For many, the holiday season means extra financial difficulties.
Mind Australia and The Haven Foundation will house up to 80 people living with significant mental health and wellbeing concerns in Drouin, Ballarat West, North Bendigo, Seymour and Pakenham.
Mind Australia is part of an alliance of Australia’s leading mental health organisations that has released a roadmap for how the NDIS could be improved for people with psychosocial disability.
The South Australian government has committed funding to build The Haven Foundation’s first residence in South Australia. The 16 unit residence in Clearview will provide 24/7 support to people with significant long-term mental ill-health.
New Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are available now to provide support via telephone and telehealth.
We asked Lisa Henderson, Service Manager for the Greater Bendigo, Campaspe and Loddon regions who they are for and how they work.
“People can pick up the phone and call us to get immediate free and confidential support,” she said.
