The Youth Prevention and Recovery Care service in Traralgon provides young people experiencing psychological distress with short term residential stays (up to 28 days) and access to specialist mental health staff 24 hours a day. The goal of YPARC is to support service users to achieve stabilised mental health, and provide the skills to live safely in the community.

About Youth Prevention and Recovery Care

This service provides a schedule of group activities alongside individual one to one support based on each person’s strengths and goals, as identified in a personal recovery plan.

YPARC services – a priority recommendation of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System – are designed to support transitions out of hospital, or to help someone avoid a hospital stay. They provide early intervention care and a range of recovery focused supports, with specialist mental health staff available 24 hours a day.

Traralgon YPARC features 10 bedrooms with their own ensuite bathrooms. There is also communal kitchen, dining and living areas, breakout spaces and outdoor garden areas. These provide space for leisure and recreational activities, recovery focused group activities and tailored one-to-one support.

Traralgon YPARC is proudly delivered in partnership by Latrobe Regional Health and Mind Australia, and is funded by the Victorian Department of Health.
