This service provides 24/7 short to medium term support to young people aged 18 to 25 who are at risk of homelessness, and who would benefit from individualised and group support to lead more independent lives.
Mind’s Youth Residential Recovery (YRR) services promote resilience, interpersonal skills, life skills and encourage young people to self-advocate, enhancing their awareness of rights and providing people with options to access to services, as well as consider options for future housing, study or employment.
About Sandridge YRR
Sandridge is based in the heart of the City of Yarra, where individuals can stay in the YRR program for up to 12 months, receiving psychosocial support in a home-like community setting.
The program provides individual and group based support for young people who are at a risk of homelessness and are experiencing mental health challenges. Participants benefit from sharing their experiences and recovery journeys with other residents.
Sandridge YRR includes seven bedrooms and shared communal areas including a kitchen, living room, and garden spaces. There is also overnight accommodation for staff to ensure young people have access to support, if they require it, 24/7.
Who is YRR for?
Young people (aged 18 to 25) who need additional support to improve their mental health and circumstantial life challenges in a safe, home-like environment.
How do I apply for YRR?
People eligible for YRR must be at least 18 years old, be at risk of homelessness, be experiencing symptoms of mental health challenges, and at the time of application, have limited access to social and economic participation. Referrals for Sandridge YRR are accepted for young people throughout Victoria. Young people can submit a referral by presenting to their local homelessness access point and completing an Initial Assessment and Planning tool.
