Students in Victoria studying a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work will soon be able to apply for a cadetship with Mind through the Victorian government’s Peer Cadet Program.
Mind is one of nine community service organisations taking part in the program, which provides paid employment opportunities for people with lived and living experience of mental health challenges.
Eligible people can now get up to 10 sessions of support from a Mind Australia registered psychologist through the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).
There is currently no wait list for this new Mind service, so eligible people can access this service right away.
Mind Australia and Monash University are part of a group of organisations researching strategies for how to reduce loneliness and social isolation for people who experience chronic disease.
