Most employees who work directly with clients have a background in social work or occupational therapy, while others have studied courses such as psychology, nursing, community services or community development and many have prior work experience in community, disability, or drugs and alcohol services. Mind also employs administrative staff covering a range of departments, such as finance, fleet management, reception, property, training, communications, fundraising people development, and information technology.

As part of your application you will be asked to answer a set of Key Selection Criteria questions and upload your resume and cover letter.
Our Talent Acquisition Officers will analyse your skills, experience and qualifications and compare them with the requirements of the role. You will be notified by the Candidate care team if your application meets the criteria and if you will continue through the process.
The next step is a series of interviews either by phone, video conference or face-to-face. It is worth noting that we will be looking at your potential fit with Mind’s culture as well as exploring your achievements and motivations. Throughout the process, we will use behavioural-based interviewing techniques that will draw on your experiences and real examples from your professional life. Your right to work in Australia, and original copies of your qualifications, will also be validated at this point.
Our team will conduct at least two reference checks from your previous/current employers to ensure that your potential fit with our culture is right, as well as exploring such things as your management, leadership style and work ethic.
The first thing we offer you is congratulations on reaching this stage. We welcome you to the Mind team and give you more information about your induction. To reach this stage generally takes a number of weeks.
Induction will include a welcome to your team, an introduction to your role and objectives, and an orientation to Mind. We will ensure that you have the information you need to meet the responsibilities of being a part of our organisation, as well as give you a thorough understanding of our values, strategic plan and the way our services are structured across the country. Throughout your first few months, you’ll be provided plenty of opportunity to access all the tools and support you will need to succeed at Mind.
