Mind Australia is now accepting applications for the second round of the Victorian government’s Peer Cadet Program.
Mind is one of nine community service organisations taking part in the program, which provides paid employment opportunities for people with lived and living experience of mental ill-health.
The program provides valuable learning opportunities in service settings for 45 students studying their Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work. These placements help students develop knowledge, skills, and confidence in a structured and supported environment while receiving supervision, training and reflective practice guidelines.
Clara Chapman graduated from the inaugural round of the Peer Cadet Program earlier this year and has continued working in Mind’s Inclusion and Participation team.
Clara said the cadetship helped her make the transition from the classroom into practical service delivery settings.
