Mind Australia and Bendigo Health will continue their 16-year partnership to deliver Bendigo PARC (Prevention and Recovery Care), an alternative to hospital admission for people experiencing mental health challenges.
Mind’s contract to deliver psychosocial support services through Bendigo PARC has been extended for at least three years. Mind and Bendigo Health have successfully operated the Adult PARC in partnership since it opened in 2008.
At PARCs Mind provides early intervention care and a range of psychosocial supports to help people manage daily activities, rebuild and maintain connections, engage with education and employment, and participate fully in the community.
These supports are complemented by a team of clinical staff from the local hospital who provide assessments and psychiatrist reviews, medication support and referral to the necessary continuation of support once they leave the service. This combination of support offers a holistic breadth of services for people experiencing mental health challenges so that they can achieve sustained long term mental health recovery.
Mind Executive Director for Victoria Operations Belinda McCullough said Bendigo Adult PARC’s contract extension is a testament to Mind’s well-established roots in Central Victoria - Mind also currently operates the Bendigo Youth PARC, the new Bendigo Mental Health and Wellbeing Local service and the recently opened Haven North Bendigo residence.
“Mind has a strong presence in the Bendigo community built over many years of supporting the mental health and wellbeing of local adults, young people as well as families, carers and supporters of people experiencing mental health challenges,” Ms McCullough said.
“Our services in Bendigo are staffed with qualified community mental health practitioners from the local area who understand and are in-tune with the challenges that community members are experiencing.
“We look forward to further building our 16-year strong partnership with Bendigo Health, and providing holistic wrap around supports so that service users can access the help they need to recover and live fulfilling and independent lives in the community.”
