A new headspace youth mental health service will be located in Prospect Street, Box Hill, Mind Australia, headspace National and Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network have announced.

The centre, which will be managed by Mind Australia, was announced in February 2023 and is expected to begin service delivery by the end of 2023.

headspace services provide free mental health and wellbeing support to young people aged 12 to 25 years. They exist to give young people a safe space and to provide them with tools, knowledge and ongoing support so they can proactively maintain their wellbeing.

The location for this headspace centre was chosen for its accessibility for the Box Hill community including its proximity to local schools and the Box Hill Institute, Mind Acting Executive Director – Victorian Operations John Bamborough said.

“We are thrilled to finalise a location for the new headspace centre in Box Hill and be a step closer to being able to deliver mental health and wellbeing supports to young people in the Whitehorse, Manningham and Boroondara communities,” Mr Bamborough said.

“This site was chosen based on feedback from a group of young people in the area. Their advice and insight have helped ensure key decisions made for this centre are informed by people who are likely to access headspace.”

headspace services are inclusive and welcoming for young people seeking support for challenges related to their mental and physical health, work, school or study, alcohol and other drugs, and gender or sexuality.

Mind operates an established range of youth services in Victoria, Queensland and South Australia, including youth residential prevention and recovery care (PARC) support, adventure-based programs and two other headspace services.
