Social housing for people living with mental health challenges
Haven Castlemaine is due to open mid 2026
Haven Castlemaine provides long-term, affordable, and secure social housing with a focus on adults living with mental health challenges.
This new housing development is located in northwest Victoria in the Mount Alexander Shire, and features 14 one-bedroom self-contained apartments, set in landscaped grounds.
Haven Castlemaine offers purpose-built designs to promote comfort, dignity, and a foundation for a fulfilling and meaningful life. Residents have access to modern, self-contained apartments in a welcoming environment that encourages privacy, autonomy and community belonging.
Each unit features secure entry, a main bedroom with built-in wardrobe, bathroom, kitchen and eating area, European laundry, lounge room and outdoor courtyard or balcony.
The residence also features generous communal recreational and lounge areas for use by all residents.
Haven Castlemaine is conveniently located close to public transport, local shops and other amenities.
Community-based support through local partnerships
The Haven Foundation works closely with local support providers to ensure residents can connect with the right services when needed. Our team maintains strong relationships with mental health, wellbeing, and community organisations in the region.
We can assist residents to access:
- Local mental health and wellbeing services
- Primary care and GP supports
- Community-based psychosocial programs
- Social groups, employment, and education pathways
- Disability, housing, and financial assistance services
We are committed to supporting people to navigate available resources, strengthen their support networks, and remain connected to the broader community.
A housing model built on autonomy and inclusion
Our approach empowers residents to live the life they choose, while maintaining strong ties to local supports and services. Haven Castlemaine offers:
- Secure, affordable, long-term tenancies
- Modern one-bedroom apartments each with their own private outdoor space
- A stable living environment that supports residents' wellbeing and inspires possibility
- Connection points to community services and encourages connection with existing supports such as family or friends
- A respectful, tenant-focused experience
We welcome people of all identities. In recognition of the significant LGBTIQA+ population in the Macedon area, The Haven Foundation is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space where everyone feels they belong. We warmly encourage people who identify as LGBTIQA+ to connect with us and to explore, in partnership, what might be required to build a particularly welcoming and inclusive community for LGBTIQA+ people at Haven Castlemaine.
