Supporting someone who is experiencing mental health challenges can be rewarding, but it can also feel uncertain, emotional and, at times, overwhelming.

You might be a family member, friend, carer or health professional. You might have noticed changes in someone you care about, or they may have asked you to help them find support. Whatever brings you here, taking the time to explore the options available is an important step.

At Mind, we work alongside people to support their mental health and wellbeing. We also recognise that the people around them play an important role in a person’s recovery and everyday life.

If you’re making a referral

Mind accepts referrals from a range of health and community professionals, including GPs, hospitals, mental health services, NDIS partners and other community organisations.

Our services are available in different locations across Australia, and referral pathways vary depending on the service. Our team can help you understand what’s available, who is eligible and how to get started.

Whether you’re making a referral after someone leaves hospital, connecting them with community-based support or helping them take the next step in their recovery, we’re here to work with you.

Call our customer service team on 1300 286 463 or email [email protected] to get started.

Support for families and carers

Caring for someone else can affect your own wellbeing too.

You may be balancing concern for the person you care about with work, family responsibilities and your own health. It’s okay to recognise when you need support as well.

Mind offers services, resources and information for families, carers and supporters. Whether you’re looking for practical guidance, someone to talk to, or opportunities to connect with others who understand, support is available.

Find the right support

Everyone’s needs, goals and experiences are different. That’s why we take the time to get to know each person and understand what matters most to them.
