The Way Back Support Service – BENDIGO
Mind Australia’s The Way Back Support Service is a three-month outreach, psychosocial suicide prevention program for people in the Bendigo region who have recently experienced a suicide attempt. This program provides a combination of clinical and community-based mental health supports to help people transition from a state of crisis.
About The Way Back Support Service
Mind Australia’s The Way Back Support Service helps people experiencing serious suicidal crisis, and those around them. This program is delivered in partnership with Bendigo Health and offers a blend of clinical and community-based wrap-around mental health supports to help people transition from a state of crisis to problem-solving and achieving positive change.
The Way Back Support Service clients receive outreach and psychosocial support for up to three months post suicide attempt.
Some Mind staff members who deliver The Way Back Support Service have a lived experience of mental ill-health or suicidal ideation. These peer practitioners use their lived experience to create strong rapport and better connect with clients as well as their families and carers.
Who is The Way Back Support Service for?
The Way Back Support Service is for people experiencing suicidal ideation in the Bendigo region who have been referred to Bendigo Health’s Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (HOPE) program and The Way Back Support Service following engagement with Bendigo Health’s Mental Health Services.The Way Back Support Service is a Beyond Blue initiative delivered in partnership with Bendigo Health.
